I am so in love with the Tattered & Torn series, Falling Embers just confirmed that I love this world. Falling Embers follows Hadley and Calder. If you’ve read Tattered Stars, you would know that Hadley is Hayes’ sister and Calder is his best friend. I was so excited to read their book after finishing Tattered Stars, and it did not disappoint!

I loved getting into Hadley’s head and getting to know her more. Her inner turmoil, struggles and loneliness had my heart breaking as I continued to read her story. After a tragedy in her childhood lead to her own childhood being stifled and different to others, she feels the need to be free and experience life the way she wants to, even if others disagree. She’s done with missing out on forming relationships and milestones. She is so brave throughout the entire story, I really loved that she stood up for herself no matter what and did what was best for her. She felt lonely throughout her life until Calder actually saw who she was underneath it all and helped her fly until it ended in heartbreak.

Calder had me swooning from the very start. I mean, how could I not swoon over a single dad who is a firefighter? He cares so much about his twin girls and always puts them first no matter what. He’s made some mistakes in his life, letting Hadley go being one of them, but he is a good man once he lets his walls fall down and loves fiercely.

Calder tries to deny what feelings he has for Hadley but as time goes by and they spend more and more time together, it becomes impossible for them to deny. Their chemistry is too strong to ignore anymore. I really loved their friendship first. Seeing Calder let Hadley be her true self without any barriers, was so heartwarming after seeing what she has gone through to get there. I loved how Hadley had such a great relationship with his daughters too. It was so beautiful.

Catherine Cowles has written another great instalment to the Tattered & Torn series and she has quickly become one of my one click authors. Her storytelling pulls you in and compiles you to continue until you’ve suddenly read the book in one sitting. I am so excited to see where this series goes!

REVIEW

5 stars for Saint!

Saint is the third instalment of the Priest series, but this is the first book I’ve read from Sierra Simone and Saint just drew me in! Each book from this series can be read as a standalone but I imagine reading them all would make for an even better experience.

Saint is a haunting and beautiful story. It is a forbidden second chance romance about a monk and his ex-boyfriend. I don’t know what I was expecting when I started reading this story but Saint blew me away. I haven’t read anything like this before.

This book is so intense and dark but as I mentioned hauntingly beautiful and emotional. I might have cried at some moments because of this story. Aiden Bell has been though a lot and the darkness of this story really does consume you as you read. Aiden joined the monastery to save himself, as he battles his mental health. It might not be the path you’d take to save yourself but from reading the story, you can see how it has helped Aiden.

But then 5 years after he joined, his ex-boyfriend, Elijah comes to visit and they reconnect. Aiden finds out that Elijah is engaged to someone else. The Fiancé then comes and sends the day… My heart broke for Aiden, it was painful to read but I loved every minute of it.

Throughout the whole story you can feel how much love Aiden has for Elijah (the story is mostly told from Aiden’s POV). We can feel his struggle with his love of Elijah and his love and dedication to God. The journey we see Aiden take as the story continues is so beautiful but so intense and heart wrenching.

The pain we feel on this journey is completely worth it in the end as we see both Aiden and Elijah come together so amazingly.

I can definitely say this will not be my last Sierra Simone book! I completely loved the writing of this story and I’ll be going back and reading the first two books in this series for sure. The way Sierra writes and describes the settings makes me feel like I am right there with Aiden as we go on his journey.

As someone who also struggles with their mental health, I’m so happy to see that Sierra has written about this topic in such a realistic way that doesn’t discredit anyones struggles but can help people understand them.

This is such a beautiful story and I highly recommend!

4.5 stars for Tie Me Down!

I loved this book! I was excited to go back to Bellamy Creek and Tie Me Down did not disappoint!

Tie Me Down is book number #4 in the Bellamy Creek series that follows four friends who are pretty much brothers after being friends for a lifetime. We get to see each of their happy endings and If you’ve read the rest of the series, Tie Me Down follows Beckett’s story.

Beckett runs his family ranch and is caring for his ill father. He previously worked on Wall Street but realised he hated it and would much rather be back on the ranch and in Bellamy Creek with his family and friends.

Maddie grew up in the town living across the street from him and they became close friends. She was always the girl that he secretly wanted but never let himself have. Now she’s back in town with her son for a few weeks after a bad divorce with her husband. She’s only back in town to sell her childhood home and Beckett has offered his help to get it ready and offered his house up as a place for her to stay while she’s in town.

Beckett wasn’t the only one who had feelings back in high school, Maddie always had a crush on him growing up but just like Beckett, she never let himself take a chance on him… but now they’re both grown up, single and willing to cross the lines…. But nothing is ever easy… Maddie is certain she’s going back to Ohio and Beckett doesn’t believe things last forever.

I completely fell in love with this story. The chemistry between Beckett and Maddie flies off the page and you just know they’re meant for each other even when they’re just longing for each other. There are so many moments that pull at your heartstrings in such a beautiful way. I loved watching Beckett with his father, he was completely selfless and patient, it made me fall in love with him more.

I LOVED Maddie’s son Elliot and how Maddie was with him. He loves pink, wearing dresses and painting his nails and Maddie has no problems letting him express himself however he wants… and unlike Elliot’s father, Beckett is so great with him. I loved their dynamic. It was so sweet.

I really enjoyed this book. Maddie and Beckett are so sweet with each other and you can tell how much they truely love one another even if they haven’t admitted it yet. This was such a beautiful story. I would highly recommend checking this book out and the rest of the series if you haven’t already!
